SIGNS of M-CMTC in ANTENATAL

Scan may reveal :-
- Abnormal umbilical cord

- Abnormally fast growth
- Plural infussion
SIGNS
of M-CMTC at BIRTH:-
- One side of the body larger than the other
- Often premature
- Large for the term
- Very Floppy (little movement)
- Large Head
- Mottled red skin
- May have joined fingers and toes(Syndactyly)
- Extra fingers and toes(Polydactyly)
- Bloated stomach
- Feeding difficulties
- Red Marks on body:- Obvious one usually over top lip
- Heart defects
- Umbilical Hernia
Brain scans may reveal:-
- Hydrocephalus - requiring VP shunt
- Abnormalies
- Cysts

Abdominal scans may reveal:-
- Enlarged organs - ie Kidney, Liver
- Cysts
- Blockages to Kidneys
Conditions that often develope:-
- Epilesy
- Asthma
- Chest infections
Developement:-
- This varies considerably between children from very mild learning
difficulties to severe learning difficuties.
- The majority have communication difficulties.
- Sitting, standing and walking are made difficult due to the large
head and poor muscle tone.
